CMCA depends on volunteers to help us carry out our programs. More than 50 volunteers help us with opening receptions, front desk duty, mailings, and more.

Time Commitment
Depending on the time you have available for volunteering, you can select from various volunteer opportunities.
Solo or Group?
Think about whether you'd like to volunteer by yourself at the front desk or if you'd like to be a part of a group activity, such as helping out with a mailing or with a special event.
Roles
Here are a few of the different roles available for volunteers:

Front Desk
CMCA's front desk is staffed by dedicated volunteers when the galleries and Gallery Shop are open. In this role, you are the face of CMCA - the first person to greet and welcome our visitors. As a front-desk volunteer you explain what is currently showing in the galleries, answer questions, and assist in the Gallery Shop.

Front desk volunteers are encouraged to commit to a regular schedule (e.g., every Wednesday afternoon or every second Saturday morning each month), but we are happy to schedule you as your time permits.

There are two daily shifts on Tuesdays through Saturdays: 10 am-1:30 pm and 1:30-5 pm. The Sunday shift is 1-5 pm.

Opening Receptions & Other Events
Every event needs a few volunteers for preparation, service, and clean-up. In this role, you could prepare hors d'oeuvres, donate flowers, set up tables and/or chairs, help clean up, greet and keep count of attendees, or photograph the event.

Mailings
Like most nonprofits, CMCA does mailings for special events and fundraising several times a year. You would work with a group of volunteers and staff to fold letters and stuff, stamp, and seal envelopes to help CMCA raise crucial funds to carry out its programs.

CMCA Annual Art Auction
Each year CMCA holds an Annual Benefit Art Auction & Dinner. Volunteers help with registration, art-running during the Auction, check-out, and other special duties. The 2011 Auction will be at Point Lookout in Northport, Maine, on Sunday, July 31.

Facilities
CMCA needs volunteers to help repair and paint walls between exhibitions, complete small repairs, and maintain the gardens.
